What is Chiropractic Care?
If you’re new to chiropractic, this form of natural health care focuses on identifying the joints in the body that aren’t moving correctly, we focus on getting the joint moving properly. Think about this, if you have one wheel of your car misaligned, you can drive just fine on it for a while, but with long term misalignment you’re going to start seeing wear and tear.

What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession, specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions (problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles). Although chiropractors are best known for treating back and neck pain, which they do very well, a chiropractor is trained and qualified to assess and treat all the joints of the body, not only those relating to the spine. Chiropractic care is concerned with the assessment and correction of abnormal joint movement and position.

Is Chiropractic just for backs?
No, although Chiropractors are best known for treating back and neck pain, which is done very effectively. Patients also consult chiropractors regarding a wide range of other conditions. Contact info@thechiropractor.ie or call into the Tuesday Drop-In Clinic to find out if Chiropractic care can help you. See “Contact” section of this website for further contact details.

What is a Chiropractic adjustment?
A Chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is a manual procedure that utilises the highly refined skills developed during four intensive years of full time Chiropractic education. The Chiropractor typically uses their hands to manipulate the joints of the body. An adjustment is performed to reduce pain, and restore or enhance joint function.

Will treatment hurt?
Generally, Chiropractic treatment does not hurt. An adjustment is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort, occasionally there may be some minor short-term discomfort which passes quickly. The Chiropractor adapts the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient. Your Chiropractor will address any concerns you may have.

Is Chiropractic treatment safe?
Chiropractic is safer than many other treatments for your musculoskeletal problems. Serious side effects are extremely uncommon. The Chiropractor will, of course, be happy to discuss any concerns regarding your treatment.

Is Chiropractic care covered by Health Insurance?
Yes, although it is advised that you contact your policy provider to ensure that you are covered. See Health Insurance page of this website for Health Insurance Companies contact details.

What is the difference between a GP and Chiropractor?
They are different professions within the healthcare spectrum. Chiropractic is not a replacement for medical care, but may offer an alternative to medication or surgery in appropriate circumstances.

Does Chiropractic care replace conventional treatment?
No.  Your Chiropractor recognises the important role of medication in the management of a multitude of medical conditions.   Many advancements in modern medicine have promoted public health immeasurably.  Your Chiropractor can communicate with, and work in conjunction with other healthcare practitioners to improve your health outcomes.
